Mon- Fri 0930-1330 (some flexibility required, including occasional weekends and evenings).

The interview date is Thursday the 26th March at Harford Community Centre between the hours of 09:30 and 14:30.

The Committee of South Harford and Tuckswood Community Association wish to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic person for the role of Community Liaison.

​

We are seeking to develop our popular and successfully-run community centre into a community hub with an emphasis on increasing our social value and building strong relationships with the community we serve. The new community liaison will play a key role in developing these relationships. Your usual place of work will be Harford Community Centre but you will also be required to go out in the local community.

​

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and organisational skills, with the flexibility to deal with situations as they arise. Part of the role will involve being proactive in going out into the local community and building relationships with residents and other community groups. Good written language skills and a competence with ICT are important. The community liaison will be required to work independently but also as part of a team with the committee.

​

This role involves representing South Harford and Tuckswood Community Association (SH & TCA) and Harford Community Centre as the main point of contact for the community we serve. The community liaison will work closely with the committee of SH & TCA to ensure the social value of Harford Community centre is prioritised and we are meeting our charitable aims. The community liaison will be based at Harford Community Centre and will report directly to the committee.

Community relations:

  • Work with the committee to come up with new initiatives to respond to the needs of the community we serve.

  • Establish Harford Community Centre as part of an inclusive community network through forming connections with other community groups and organisations within Lakenham and Tuckswood.

  • Support the committee with the planning, setting up and running of events.

  • Create a welcoming atmosphere within Harford Community Centre and serve refreshments at centre-run events.

  • Publicise and promote Harford Community Centre and events organised by SH & TCA, through the creation of printed materials, active engagement on social media and engagement in person with the public.

  • Oversee the online booking system for the hire of the hall and centre rooms, and deal with additional telephone bookings as required.

  • Answer phone and email enquiries, dealing with issues as they arise.

  • Arrange appointments with the public who wish to look around the centre prior to booking.

  • Manage lost and found property in accordance with SH & TCA policy.

  • Ensure current SH & TCA policies are available to the public.

  • Advertise tickets for SH & TCA events through an online booking platform.

Safeguarding:

  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate (paid for by SH & TCA if needed)

  • Undertake basic safeguarding training every three years (paid for by SH & TCA)

  • Hold the role of Designated Officer for safeguarding within Harford Community Centre; undertaking training for the role (paid for by SH & TCA), following procedures outlined in SH & TCA's safeguarding and child protection policy, maintaining training records for the committee, arranging DBS checks where required and reporting any disclosures as required.

  • Store any safeguarding records securely within the centre.

Maintain Harford Community Centre as a safe and welcoming environment:

  • Carry out light cleaning duties as required.

  • Litter pick around the centre entrance and terrace area as required.

  • Check the safe storage and condition of furniture, removing any broken or damaged items.

  • Carry out weekly fire alarm tests and safety checks following the procedures detailed in the site safety records.

  • Maintain the plants within the centre and in the planter on the terrace area.

  • Check the condition of the kitchen equipment weekly and tidy/clean as necessary.

  • Liase with cleaners and order supplies as required.

  • Report any maintenance needs to the committee and organise repairs as directed, arranging for maintenance works to be carried out.

Support the committee in the operation of Harford Community Centre as a community venue:

  • Liaise with Asda as landlords of Harford Community Centre, and Norwich City Council as directed by the committee.

  • Check the postbox regularly and ensure that all correspondence is handled appropriately.

  • Attend training as required by the committee

  • Ensure the committee are made aware of any renewals of insurance and utility contracts which are due for renewal and seek quotations as requested.

  • Liaise with the treasurer in regards to invoicing, deposit returns, bills and any other financial matter arising.

  • Undertake any additional responsibilities deemed appropriate by the committee in support of the effective operation of Harford Community Centre.

Pay: £13.00 per hour
